Filmic
Tapes
The term 'filmic tapes'
covers a broad spectrum of carriers which includes PVC and polyethylene. Filmic
tapes do look alike but they all have individual differences that make them
ideally suited to specific applications. To help you make an informed decision
about what tape to choose for your application, follow the guidelines below
and throughout this site.
All Filmic tapes:
- Will peel clean from
most surfaces.
- Have a writable surface
except for AT6000 which has a silicone coating.
- Have some degree of
electrical insulation due to the polymers present in the tape's manufacture.
- Have high elongation
properties.
- Conform to awkward
surfaces very well.
- Are generally water
resistant.
- Have non-corrosive
adhesives making them unlikely to react with the surface they are in contact
with.
- Should be applied at
temperature between +10°C and +40°C.
- Finally, please note;
PVC is inherently flame retardant but polyethylene will burn easily.
- Low tack protection
tapes actually have high tack but have low adhesion which enables them to
peel clean from most surfaces.
